The Dove's In Love

Today my hubbie and I are celebrating our 10th Wedding Anniversary!

It was Good Friday '99. We made plans to go fishing together on the Intracoastal Waterway in Jacksonville, FL. However, I didn't realize it wasn't a good time to fish. The tide wasn't right, the fish weren't biting. I was so clueless and he took me anyway.

The mud minnows that we used for bait were so cute and I wouldn't bait my hook with them. I couldn't handle the squish sound, so my man would always put them on the hook for me. I would turn my head and put my hands over my ears and say loudly, "Lalalalalalalalalalala!" until I could see my pole out of the corner of my eye, fishy wiggling on the end of the hook.

Great. Thank you. Cast....
This time was no different.

So after we get out onto the water in his jon boat, I hand him my pole. (Little did I know, he had attached a special clasp to the end of it before he picked me up that day).

He "baits" my hook and I'm doing my normal ritual and this time when I turn my head and grab my pole, on the end DANGLING OVER THE WATER is my beautiful ring.

He got down on one knee and proposed right there.

Here is a shadowbox that I made from a 100+ year old picture frame that my mom had given me. Because the glass "bubbles out", I took some of our wedding items such as my gloves, his bowtie, our wedding invitation, program and put them inside.
I need to replace the old chain with some yummy ribbon that goes with our master suite, but you get the idea.

Next to it on the wall, I have a little sign that I got on clearance at Hobby Lobby for $2.72. Ain't it sweet?

Wishing you a day full of love!

  4. What a fun engagement story! That shadow box you made is cute too!

I did not do the lettering on my white pumpkins but with all the fancy machines out now it would be easy to. :)
