Warm Winter Wishes

...for a happy day.

Hubby ordered coffee at a fast food joint on the way back from vacation and when he set the cup down in the cup holder, I gasped.

I don't visit fast food places often, so I was surprised when I saw this little fella. (do you think they designed the lid like this on purpose, just to start our day with a smile? I like to think so).

Before he took his first sip,

I asked to take a picture of the lid,

explaining that I take pics of smiley faces in random places

(since he doesn't read my blog).

He probably thought I was crazy when he responded with, "Cool."

Gosh, I love that man.

Friday Faves and a Funny

My merry mantle

filled with musical chubby doves

oh, how i heart them!

..and the reason I sleep with one eye open.
I came upstairs last night to find that one of our sons closed my boot in our master bedroom doors to make it look like my leg was trapped.
Nice, huh?
Have a great weekend everyone and watch out for closing doors!

Dove Doings

I realize the title of this post could be misread and actually sound like
I'm speaking of dove droppings,
but I promise this is a poop-free post...
Just wanted to show a few things I've been working on.
For the LSU fan: Tiger earrings...

For Ellen's daughter and her friends: picture frame ornaments for BFFs!

and another wedding frame
because so many ladies will be getting an engagement ring for Christmas:

Alrighty, back to work for me.

Have a wonderful day, everyone!

The Dove's Nest

Here's a pic of my nest so far.

I never feel quite done with decorating for Christmas.

I would love to have wreaths on EVERY window and garland going along my entire fence,

but I gotta draw the line somewhere.

There are so many more important things...
So, I went out to get the mail the other day and I saw, yes...another smiley.

(please note the ever so cute table that I made from the door I got at a tag sale for $15)
Ok, back to work. I stopped taking custom orders yesterday and I'm swamped. Yay!

Cute Chalkboard and A Winner

I'm not one of these women who LOVES to cook.
I would rather bake dessert.
I've never once heard anyone complain about having chocolate cake.
My mom gave me this a.dor.a.ble chalkboard and
it's really helped me get more in the mood to cook.
I answered the same question three different times a day
and now my guys can just look at the menu and see what's for dinner.
Looking for a unique gift?
This little easel was painted with chalkboard paint.
Sold at craft stores,
anything can be repurposed into a chalkboard.
There ya go. Check off the rest of your Christmas list.
Ok, now for the winner of my Little Christmas Tree wall art:
*Chris Eden*
Congratulations!
Thank you to everyone who entered.
Keep checking back.
The Chubby Dove is
planning another giveaway before Christmas.
Have a great day!

Friday Faves

This cloche and stand was a little gift from my mom

that I brought back from FL this past week.

I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED the wee bitty birdie,

but I wasn't so crazy about the color.

I grabbed my white acrylic paint and went to work.

Sanded it a little here and a little there.....

and now I have a habitat for the snowmen my boys made me.

Have A Day

Last night, I was reading a book to our 5 year old boy.

Our other son came downstairs after his shower,
shirtless and still dripping wet.

When he leaned across the arm of the chair I was sitting in,

I noticed the water droplets on his chest and his still wringing wet hair,

so I told him to go back upstairs and dry off a little better.

When he got up from his position on the armrest,

he says, "Mom, look the water made a smiley face on the chair."

Well, whatdya know.

Of course, I had to go get my camera and take a picture of it.....

Not quite the smiliest of faces, like in the jelly jar lid, but nontheless, a cute little face.
Hope your day is full of unexpected surprises.
