Friday Faves

There's a little shop near my house that sells all sorts of "stuff". I had been noticing these willow branches out on the porch-sitting there day after day... even at night after the shop closed. So, I decided to go up there Tuesday and look at them up close. I found out that the lady who owned the place wanted $4 a piece for these branches.

No can do.

I asked her if she would make me a deal if I bought ALL of them and she laughed.

Laughed.

And then she said, "ten dollars".

So my Friday Fave for this week are my new willow branches!

Apparently, they grow in a pond at her sister's house and every once in awhile she goes in the water and cuts them all down. Oh, glory!

My four year old son came home from school that day and yelled,

"Wow, it looks so good in here. Now we're all ready for SPRING!"

I need to help him a little with his seasons, don't ya think? But he's right, they really add that little extra touch to that spot in our family room.

I also put some here...

The moral of this decorating story is: don't be too shy to ask someone to make you a deal. The worst they can say is 'no'.

I would have missed out on these branches if I went with my gut. I didn't want to offend the lady, but I knew they had been sitting there awhile, sad and in need of a loving home.

I'm so glad I asked!

If you haven't entered my giveaway yet, you still have time. I'll be picking the winner Saturday morning. If you missed that post click here.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

Fab Finds

Look at these treasures I found yesterday! I'm so excited to use them in our home. The little signage with the eggs I just HAD to have. The cake plate already had the ribbon tied on it (I will take it off and use it on a project, I'm sure) and the urn will look so sweet with...well...anything in it, really.

Hope you have a wonderful Wednesday!

October Giveaway

This month, I'm giving away this halloween frame. When I look at it, it makes me kinda crazy-like when kids eat too much candy crazy.

Speaking of candy, in your comment, tell me what your favorite candy is and leave your comment on THIS post. You have until midnight Friday, the 9th. I will pick the winner the next morning. If you leave an anonymous comment, please leave your email address so I can notify you if you win.

This frame has lots of glob. Stripes, candy corn, polka dots, a random running and screaming ghost-child, the word creepy at the bottom (that you can't see well in the picture), buttons, a bat and more.

Just for the record, I LOVE dark chocolate (Dove Promises, in particular).

Have a yummy day!

The Dove's In Love

Today my hubbie and I are celebrating our 10th Wedding Anniversary!

It was Good Friday '99. We made plans to go fishing together on the Intracoastal Waterway in Jacksonville, FL. However, I didn't realize it wasn't a good time to fish. The tide wasn't right, the fish weren't biting. I was so clueless and he took me anyway.

The mud minnows that we used for bait were so cute and I wouldn't bait my hook with them. I couldn't handle the squish sound, so my man would always put them on the hook for me. I would turn my head and put my hands over my ears and say loudly, "Lalalalalalalalalalala!" until I could see my pole out of the corner of my eye, fishy wiggling on the end of the hook.

Great. Thank you. Cast....
This time was no different.

So after we get out onto the water in his jon boat, I hand him my pole. (Little did I know, he had attached a special clasp to the end of it before he picked me up that day).

He "baits" my hook and I'm doing my normal ritual and this time when I turn my head and grab my pole, on the end DANGLING OVER THE WATER is my beautiful ring.

He got down on one knee and proposed right there.

Here is a shadowbox that I made from a 100+ year old picture frame that my mom had given me. Because the glass "bubbles out", I took some of our wedding items such as my gloves, his bowtie, our wedding invitation, program and put them inside.
I need to replace the old chain with some yummy ribbon that goes with our master suite, but you get the idea.

Next to it on the wall, I have a little sign that I got on clearance at Hobby Lobby for $2.72. Ain't it sweet?

Wishing you a day full of love!

Heidi's Halloween

Heidi started out as a customer and now is a friend. She's the cutest thing ever and also has two little boys.

She asked me to make her a Halloween frame and since she is nuts for polka dots (who isn't?) this frame is covered with them.

Heidi started her own blog not too long ago called DealDivaandDudes. Check it out by clicking here.

Well, I'm off to a boutique to drop off more inventory. So fun!

Have a great day everyone!
