Free Desk = Fun Desk

I know it's summer
and the last thing anyone wants to think about right now
is school, but I plan to home school next year.

I've been trying to figure out where in our house that
I'm going to do this said
home schooling...

Enter one
*FREE*
antique desk
found on craigslist by my sweet hubs.

I think lots of schoolwork was done on this baby.

So, I broke out my paint and got to work.

Notice, I didn't say sander.
That's 'cause I was so excited that I skipped that part.

I got my white paint out and applied two layers.
Then, one of my favorite colors
(which may or may not inspire daydreams of the beach).
Two coats of that.
THEN,
I broke out the palm sander and sanded away.

*funny side note*
I did the sanding in our driveway
while our son was riding his bike.
I went into the garage to unplug my sander and
all of a sudden I heard a crash.
He accidentally rode into the desk and knocked over.

I always say,
"It's a good thing I like distressed furniture
because I have two boys"

I love the end result.
Now, if only teaching was this easy.

Darling Distraction

Well, I'm back home after visiting with my momma for the last couple of weeks.

She's done with her 5 days of cyberknife treatments.
There isn't anything else the doctors can do for her at this point.
We just wait and see how the treatments effected the two tumors in her brain.
In about a month, we should know more.

Thank you for the countless prayers that went up for me,
my mom and our family.
I honestly have felt each one.
I really don't know how anyone could go through this life without Jesus.

*****

On another note,
We have been searching for a little buddy for awhile.
My hubbie thought this would be a good time to get me a furry friend.
You know, to cheer me up a bit.
He was right.
This small, sweet guy is my dream dog.
Ain't he the cutest ever?

I'm looking forward to getting back to work in my studio.
If I can just put this puppy down for 2 minutes.

His Grace Is Sufficient

You may have wondered where I've been lately.
Maybe not.
Perhaps you've noticed I haven't blogged much in the last week or so.
Maybe not.

Well, the reason is quite simple.
I didn't felt like doing much of anything.
In fact, it was all I could do to just breathe.
I didn't have much of an appetite.
I didn't feel like working in my studio.

The doctors have given my mom a very short time.
Just after they said she was in remission,
the breast cancer has come back.
This time, two aggressive tumors in her brain.

My best friend will soon be gone.

And right now,
my business,
blogging,
etsy sales,
decorating,
twitter,
facebook
none of that
really matters to me.

Over the next few months,
I will be traveling to be with her
as much as possible.

My shop and store will be closed on and off
over the summer.

If you are of the praying sort,
please lift up my momma.
The doctors say that because of where the tumors are,
she won't have pain at the end.

That's a relief,
but still my heart is breaking.

"My grace is sufficient for thee"
2 Cor 12:9

His grace is amazing.
